How to set WDS connection! Wi-Fi Repeater! Wi-Fi Extender! Wireless router! Increase range of wireless network.

Configure WDS connection or bridging

It's very easy to configure WDS bridging. you just need to follow some steps carefully.
Do not miss any step or this won't work.
WDS opening method is very useful in companies, cafe, library, bus station, large families and so on.
This method will help you a lot, if not now but in the future it may help you a lot !

Step by step instructions for WDS bridging

What does WDS mean?

WDS is the short name of the Wireless Distribution System, the main role is to achieve communication between the wireless base stations. In the home wireless network applications, WDS to achieve an extension of the wireless network coverage, making the wireless signal coverage is more extensive, allowing users to more easily use the wireless network.

WDS is a function in which you can extend your wifi range as far as you want.
It helps you to provide you full signal to your device.

Why do i need to use WDS ?

The family area is larger, there are more rooms, Main wireless router in the living room so the wireless signal is good around the living room, but away from the living room farther room, due to the walls of the block, making the wireless signal is very weak.
So to get better signal everywhere in the large family, You can use the wireless network extender.

The same building between the different floors, you can use WDS function to extend the coverage of the wireless network.

It's not a good idea to have more than one internet connection at your home. but yes ! WDS is a good solution to get full signal.

You may connect two routers through wire but that is wire crowded so wireless is the best !

So what is the best solution to get good signal anywhere at home?

Solution: Install another wireless router in the room where you are getting weak signals and enable WDS function to get connected with main router to another router or mean the living room main wireless router to another router installed in your room connect through the bridge connection,

WDS stand for "Wireless Distribution System" , is a method in which you can extend your Wi-Fi Range.
If you are far from main router and getting weak signals then you can use this method to extend your router's wi-fi range.

Note: 1. Two wireless router WDS bridge, you do not need to open the WDS function on both wireless routers, only in the sub-router (Another router) to open the WDS function, and then scan to the main router (networked router ), Can be connected together. The channel of the secondary router must match the channel of the primary router. Otherwise, the WDS bridge can not be established.

2. The same main router can simultaneously and multiple vice routers to establish WDS bridge function.
For an example:  The main router A, wireless routers B, C, D and A router can establish a WDS bridge at the same time, making the wireless router A wireless network coverage has been greatly expanded.

3. It is necessary that your main routers signal must reach to second router.

How to configure WDS connection or bridging ?

What do i need to know before starting the WDS bridging ?

1. Main router's default IP address and login detail - CLICK HERE TO GET INFO
Note: Usually most of TP-Link has default IP - 192.168.1.1
2. Main router's Wi-Fi name and password.

Note : In my case i am considering
Main router as First router
Another router in which I want to setup WDS as Second router

FOLLOW THE BELOW STEPS TO CONFIGURE WDS

1. At first, RESET the Second router by long pressing the reset button
2. Connect Second router to your computer via internet cable or WI-FI of Second router.
3. Open default IP address of your Second router which is 192.168.1.1

5. Select your First router's WI-FI name and look Channel number and Connect. (see the below picture)

6. Select the channel number and First router's wifi password as shown below
In my case Channel number is 4 and password is 123456789123! and choose key type as your main router's security.
Mostly router has WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK.
Note: Keep the same SSID for both first and second router but you can set differ for second router.

7. Go to Wireless Security page and check the box WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK and fill first router's wifi password

8. Click DHCP-> DHCP Settings page. Choose Disable DHCP , and click Save button.
